It is known as the "five-syllable" mantra which refers to the five elements (earth, fire, water, air, and ether), of which every human body is made of.

"This mantra is the essence of all spiritual teachings. The Divine is everywhere and by chanting this mantra you concentrate the Divine power in a single place.
If you sing it in your mind, that Divine Light will shine within your mind and heart. When we recite it continuously, it mixes with the air we breathe, reaches our hearts and minds and vibrates in each of our cells. It relieves us of fear and negative influences. We can reach higher levels of consciousness and experience. Divine happiness. It helps us understand the truth and supreme wisdom."
